Frequently Asked Questions About Roof Rack
What do car roof rack systems include?
Car roof rack systems typically include three parts; the bar, the feet, and the fitting kit. The bar runs across the width of the roof while attached to the feet. The fitting kit will ensure that your roof rack fits into your Subaru and secure it in place as you drive.
What type of roof rack suits my Subaru?
When shopping for roof racks for cars, know the dimensions of your car roof since different car models require bars of different widths and foot heights. For example, if your ride includes a roof gutter, you might want gutter-mounted racks. Always double-check the roof of your ride before getting any roof rack assembly to ensure proper fitment and compatibility.
What's the difference between roof rails and roof racks?
Roof bars sit across the top of vehicles, while roof rails go on both sides of the roof. Roof rails go from the front to the back of the vehicle roof and are often factory fitted. Roof rails are often complemented with roof racks if you want to enhance the stability and load capacity of your Subaru.
How do I install a roof rack on my Subaru?
Most roof rack assemblies don’t require additional tools for installation. Their fitting kits often include everything you need to mount them on your ride. Specific assemblies also require no additional drilling on your roof unless your kit is a permanentmount system.
How much weight can roof racks carry?
The loading capacity of roof racks varies depending on their type and design. Common roof rack assemblies found on SUVs, sedans, and crossovers can carry up to 165 pounds of cargo. Avoid going over the capacity of your assembly since this will put additional strain on the roof and roof racks of your car and jeopardize its structural integrity.
